Joseph Coughlin Named to MIT "Thunder" Research Ramp-Up Committee

by Adam Felts

AgeLab Director Joseph Coughlin has been named to an MIT committee tasked with advising the MIT administration on re-establishing research in the Humanities, Arts & Social Sciences, Sloan, and Architecture and Planning schools, as well as the Library system and Museum, on the MIT campus in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic. Areas of note for the "Thunder" committee include human subjects research and accessing library, archive, museum and data resources that must be obtained on campus.

As Director of the MIT AgeLab, Dr. Coughlin has overseen in-person human subject research including focus groups and interviews, experiments using the Miss Daisy driving simulator, and collection of data on driver behavior "in the wild."
