AgeLab Director Joseph Coughlin is interviewed in NextAvenue on the effects of COVID-19 on aging and technology. He writes:
While people have reported stocking freezers with their favorite ice cream [in response to the pandemic], they also reported purchasing new home technologies. This was not just to binge-watch endless shows until the pandemic passed. Technologies also improved connectivity between themselves and others, as well as smart safety and security products to manage their homes.
The pandemic has served as a propellant accelerating the adoption of devices and related services perhaps a decade faster than might have otherwise occurred.
