Luke Yoquinto Publishes New Book on Learning with Sanjay Sarma
by Adam Felts
AgeLab researcher and science writer Luke Yoquinto is co-author of a new book titled Grasp: The Science Transforming How We Learn. Co-written with Dr. Sanjay Sarma, MIT’s Vice President of Open Learning, the book explores cutting-edge neuroscience research into how human beings best absorb and retain information, as well as new best practices for educators in an Internet-connected world. The goal of the book, says Yoquinto, is “to make learning as accessible and cognitively user-friendly as possible”—an ambition that applies not only to school-age students but also lifelong learners.
The book was finished before COVID-19 arrived in the United States, but the effect of the pandemic on the U.S. education system, and the need for many educators to suddenly figure out how best to teach remotely, makes Sarma’s and Yoquinto’s insights especially relevant.
